When Crayon Data approached us, they sought a brand identity that would embody this inventive spirit, setting them apart from competitors in a crowded market.
The solution would need to showcase Crayon’s expertise in transforming complex data challenges into clear, actionable insights while reflecting its Singaporean roots.
Challenge
In an industry filled with traditional brands, Crayon Data wanted to convey its innovative and adaptable approach to data.
As a start-up with a unique perspective, they faced the challenge of standing out visually and symbolically.
They needed a brand identity that was minimalistic yet expressive, capturing the essence of their problem-solving expertise in a memorable and adaptable design.
Solution
We developed a brand identity centred around the concept of tangrams—a puzzle made up of seven geometric shapes, which can be arranged in endless ways to create new forms.
This solution embodied Crayon Data’s innovative approach to problem-solving, symbolizing their ability to reshape complex data into insightful, client-ready solutions.
The brand mark itself takes the form of a stylized Roman capital “C” for Crayon, created using the seven tangram shapes in vibrant primary colors.
This arrangement of shapes not only adds visual appeal but also provides flexibility, allowing the logo to adapt across various applications while remaining instantly recognizable.
Drawing from tangrams also pays homage to Crayon Data’s roots in Singapore, incorporating elements of far-eastern culture and symbolizing the company’s creative approach to data analysis.
Each colour and shape within the brandmark reflects a sense of flexibility, adaptability, and creativity, visually representing Crayon Data’s mission to uncover data insights from every angle.
Success
To ensure a consistent and recognizable brand experience, we developed a comprehensive corporate identity guidebook.
Additionally, we designed a Crayon Data stationery set, which included business cards, letterheads, and envelopes—all reflecting the vibrant tangram-inspired identity.
This cohesive brand system allowed Crayon Data to communicate its message clearly and creatively across all touchpoints.
