The Education Affairs Office of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court aimed to foster social inclusivity within UAE schools by supporting students of determination.

Tasked with this mission, Punch was entrusted with creating a series of engaging Playbooks for the Special Olympics Unified Champions School (UCS) Program.

These Playbooks would serve as essential tools for teachers and student leaders to cultivate inclusive and supportive learning environments.

Challenge

The challenge was to develop a program that promoted a culture of inclusion for special needs students within the UAE’s education sector.

This required shifting perceptions around inclusivity while providing practical, engaging resources to empower teachers and student leaders.

The Education Affairs Office needed a series of tools that would communicate the program’s goals in a way that resonated with both educators and students, helping foster understanding and acceptance in schools.

Solution

Punch created four visually engaging Playbooks as the cornerstone of the UCS Program, each tailored to appeal to school children with vibrant colors, playful visuals, and informative illustrations.

Each Playbook addressed one of three components central to the program:

1. Whole-School Engagement: Encouraging school-wide efforts to embrace inclusivity.

2. Inclusive Youth Leadership: Empowering students to lead inclusive initiatives.

3. Inclusive Sports: Promoting inclusive sports as a platform for unity and respect.

Designed with thoughtful motifs, colorful layouts, and easy-to-understand graphics, the Playbooks made the program's principles accessible and appealing to students.

Each Playbook corresponded to a specific school level, ensuring relevance for different age groups.

By working closely with educators and experts, Punch ensured that the content was practical, accessible, and culturally resonant.

The design balanced playfulness with informative content, making it inviting for students and useful for educators.

The Playbooks provided guidance on creating inclusive environments, offering teachers and student leaders tangible tools and strategies to foster acceptance, respect, and dignity for all students.

The Special Olympics Unified Champions School Program was a transformative success, with the Playbooks playing a central role.
